PhD and Postdoc position

in Electronic Structure of Strongly Correlated Systems

We are looking for a doctoral (75% of the TVoD E13 salary scale) and a postdoctoral (100% TVoD E13, 1+2 years) researcher joining our team ideally starting from summer/autumn 2023. The selected candidates will contribute to our ongoing activity on the understanding of strongly correlated transition-metal oxides, with special focus on systems with spin-orbit effects.

The successful PhD candidate should have an excellent master in physics or a related subject and be interested/experienced in high-performance computing.
For the postdoctoral researcher additional requirements are a PhD with a strong background in many-body physics and/or density-functional theory.

The research activity will involve working with many-body techniques such as dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) and its cluster extensions (CDMFT), various flavors of quantum Montecarlo (QMC), and/or ab-initio methods.

The work will be carried out in a vibrant international environment at the Research Center Jülich in the Institute for Advanced Simulation, in cooperation with the RWTH Aachen University. Simulations will be performed at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre.

Applications and further information inquiries should be addressed to:

Prof. E. Pavarini
Institute for Advanced Simulation and Peter Grünberg Institut
Forschungszentrum Jülich
52425 Jülich Email: e.pavarini@fz-juelich.de

Applications should include a letter of motivation, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a summary of past accomplishments, and the full contact details of 2 referees. The Research Center Jülich is an equal opportunity employer.

Application Deadline: May 31.

Applications arriving before May 31 will be considered preferentially, however later applications will be also examined, until the two positions are filled.
