Register now for the first JCNS School on Data Analysis for Quasielastic Neutron Scattering with FRIDA (Garching, 28-29 April 2010): http://www.jcns.info/DataAnalysis2010/
SPHERES is a third-generation neutron backscattering spectrometer with focussing optics and a phase-space transform chopper. Dynamic range 0.6 - 30 μeV, q range 0.6 to 1.8 Å-1 (0.2 to 0.6 with reduced resolution). Multi-detector instrument, particularly suited for incoherent scattering.
Typical applications: hyperfine interactions, rotational tunneling, hydrogen diffusion, dynamics of supercooled liquids, relaxation in polymers and proteins.
SPHERES is operated by JCNS (Jülich Center for Neutron Science) at FRM II (Forschungsneutronenquelle Heinz Maier-Leibnitz).
